Pipeline Repair
Pipeline Repair

Glen Hydro Consulting was contacted by the Managing Agent for a 500kW hydro scheme located on the west coast of Scotland. The scheme had developed a pipeline leak. Previous attempts had been made to fix the leak, with only short-term success. The owners wanted a long-term solution.

A consultant had already been engaged to design and project manage the repair. The scheme is owned by a remote corporate body, who wished to have local, expert representation during the repair of the pipeline. Having conducted numerous pipeline repairs, Glen Hydro was contracted to comment on the design and to oversee the repair works on site.
The proposed repair involved replacing a length of pipe and relaying it, incorporating two bends. Having commented on the proposals, Glen Hydro visited site regularly, reporting to the owner on progress, quality of workmanship and re-instatement.
